Tips and Tricks to Master iTunes

iTunes is a media software developed by the Apple brand and can be used to play and download music. iTunes, when introduced back in 2001, its main focus was music, but later in 2005, Apple extended its features to podcasts, radio, digital videos, and more.

People do not know much about iTunes, because of which below mentioned are the tricks and features you’re unaware of, to help you in better understanding:

  • Play Music in a Queue

Sometimes, you’re in a specific mood and wish to listen to music that you usually don’t. Instead of changing your playlists for that particular mood, you can add music in a row, which will enable the songs to play one after another in the order in which you’ve added them. ‘Up Next’ feature is what you can use to do the same.

Steps to use this feature are:

  • Tap on the three dots in front of the song you want to add to the ‘Up Next’ list.
    • Click ‘Play Next’ if you want to add the song right next to what you’re listening to or choose ‘Add to up Next’ to add it in the last at the already existing queue.

You can see all the songs in a queue by clicking the ‘Queue’ button on the top right of the screen in the playback window.

  • Skip the Songs you don’t Like

You can clear out the mess of your already existing playlist that you don’t listen to anymore by skipping what you listen to. To do this, the steps are:

  • Go to the ‘My Music’ window.
    • From the drop-down list to the right, choose the songs you don’t listen to.
    • Right-click on the column headings and tap ‘Skips.’
    • Create a new heading and see the most skipped tracks.
  • Experiment with Comments

You may well have disregarded the comment section in your library. Yet, it can, in reality, be an extremely valuable method of looking through your music, motion pictures, and Network programs.

You could name motion pictures you love, or music appropriate for an outing, etc.

  • Video Playback

If you’re working and still want to keep track of your movie, fortunately, iTunes keeps playing your movie in the playback.

The steps to do the same are:

  • Go to the ‘Preferences’ tab.
    • Click on ‘Advanced’ and tick the checkbox for ‘Keep movie window on top of all other windows.’

This feature only works when other videos are running on different windows and not iTunes.

  • Using Android devices to copy tracks

iTunes only works with the iPhone, but you can still copy-paste tracks to an Android device. All you need to do is:

  • Plug your device with a USB cable.
    • Open the playlist in iTunes and press ‘Ctrl + A’ to select songs to copy.
    • Press’ Ctrl + c’ to copy the playlist and ‘ctrl + V’ to paste it in the Android window.
  • Organize your Applications

iTunes lets you organize your applications. You can manage your applications with the following steps:

  • Go to iTunes.
    • Under the iPhone screen, tap on ‘Apps.’

Here you can shift your applications from one place to another. Double-tap on the screen if you want to move every individual application according to your preference.

  • Cut Down the Duplicate Files

Don’t create a mess keeping duplicate files. In the ‘View’ menu, click on ‘Show Duplicate Items’ to view the files. Sort your library by keeping separate folders for duplicates.

  • Mark your Favorite Tracks

‘Match only Checked Items’ help to put a checkbox in front of the songs you like the most. This will mark your favorite songs and keep them on the top on the list.

  • iPhone Controls for iTunes

Manage and control your iTunes with a control app on the iPhone. If you’re connected to the same wi-fi connection, entering a pin will connect your device to iTunes on MacOS or Windows.
