If Kirby has made you learn anything about it, it’s that it is the most versatile character amongst all other Nintendo’s characters. He’s not only a fighter but capable of doing a lot more like stealing powers from others.
Imagine if the game enabled Kirby not only to steal but use those powers? Sounds like the next series, right? Nintendo announced a sequel to the original Kirby Fighter that debuted in 2014, which is also available to download on eShop for $19.99.
Kirby Fighters 2 is an easy and fun game that lets you play in singles mode, where you get to play the solo battles against others. Also, you can play the multiplayer mode with up to four players challenging other teams. The game can be played via the same network or switch locally, or with the online Nintendo Switch. While playing the game, all you need to do is battle with the opponents until their health meter is extremely low or reaches zero. If you’re not familiar with the controls to play the game, it is fairly simple as the controls used are the same as those used in the debut game. The sequel has introduced a few new buddies, including Bandana Waddle Dee, Gooey, etc.
By any chance, if you’re comparing the Kirby game with other fighting games, you’ll feel that it has a lot of things that are keeping the game to be proved as good as any other. For instance, one thing is the design or styling after the Kirby Star Allies, which makes it feel suitable for the platformers; however, it doesn’t interest the players in a fighting game. Another thing to be pointed out is the slow movement of the character, which can become exhausting sometimes.
Kirby Fighters 2 enables you to play using different playing modes, one of which is the Story Mode, which focuses on playing with others. You can play the game alone or with a partner in the Story mode that requires the second player to take up a non-Kirby combatant’s role. In the Adventure Mode, the player needs to climb up a huge tower while facing the other teams. As the game moves forward, players are likely to complete climbing longer towers, which feels like action. In between the ongoing fights, players are given boost options to help them through the tower, including recovery items, increased health, and amplified attack power. The player must make the correct choices, else you can end up being unprepared for the boss battle.
If you’ve had enough with the Story Mode, you can go on trying multiplayer battles. If you have companions that are Kirby fans as well, there is no better thing than playing with a fun bunch of people. However, there are some issues, such as the unavailability of the Kirby roaster. You’ll have to start with Kirby variations and earn the rest as you move along by winning.
The next instinct is to hop to online gaming. There’s an additional thing that Kirby Fighters 2 shares with the Smash Bros, which is its net code. Online games come up with a lot of communication errors and even if you pass through them, Kirby Fighters 2 is restricted to team battles. To join for the team matches, you must find someone online to play the game. Unfortunately, due to some reasons, the game can be played locally by two players; however, joining forces to play online seems impossible.
It isn’t a bad idea to spend some time playing the Kirby game, but Kirby Fighters 2 is a game that isn’t as much fun as the other series. The repetitive fighting, slow action, and a few more things make it fine for playing just for a while. If you’re looking for something smooth and fun, you can look for other Kirby games that are much better.
