The Witcher: Henry Cavill Gets Injured on the Set but the Show Goes on

The head of the cast of the popular Netflix fantasy show "The Witcher" has met with an injury on the set. Henry Cavill, who is also world-renowned for his portrayal of Superman in the DC Extended Universe, got injured during the production of The Witcher Season 2; however, the principal shooting will continue as per schedule in the United Kingdom.

It is understandable that the creator now does not want any delays as the production operations have already been postponed two times in the pandemic hit 2020.

The principal photography of The Witcher Season 2 will continue without any delay, notwithstanding the fact that the superstar of the show Henry Cavill is going through a not-so-serious muscular injury in the leg.

The shooting of the second season was first postponed in March due to obvious reasons (Kristopher Hivju was also found to be positive at that time). The shooting delay prolonged up until the middle of August, and the team could only come back when the lockdown in the United Kingdom got lenient a little bit. In the frenzy of optimism, the shooting re-commenced in mid-August only to face another hurdle in November after multiple people from the cast and crew were tested COVID-19 positive.

However, the team is back at it again, and they are doing their work at Arborfield Studios of London.

The news pertaining to Cavill's injury has reached the media, courtesy of a report published by The Sun. A source closely working with IndieWire has confirmed the report. The source added that Cavill met with an injury whilst he was on an assault course. The actor has sustained an injury on his muscle on his leg. Prima facie, the injury is looking to be a minor one. However, Cavill was indeed in a lot of pain, and the cause of the injury is not yet known.

The source had added that when Cavill met with his injury, he was performing a stunt in a 20-foot tall tree with the help of a safety harness. Though the actor did not need an urgent ambulance, he cannot walk, and that has concerned the producers of the show. To accurately portray his character "Geralt of Rivia," the actor needs to wear some heavy armor, and there is no way he can do that with an injured leg.

The actor is likely to go on a holiday later this month, as would other actors of the show, but for now, the fact of the matter is that the show cannot be halted abruptly anymore, and the rest of the cast and crew will continue their work without the lead actor.

The first season was a huge hit on Netflix, and it has been reported that it had garnered at least 76 million viewers worldwide at the time of its release in December last year.

Cavill was good in the role of Geralt of Rivia, and as were Freya Allan and Anya Chalotra in their respective roles of Ciri and Yennefer. However, as many would agree with me, the character who stole everyone's heart was none other than Geralt's best friend Jaskier (played by Joey Batey), whose songs formed the entire emotional theme of the show.

There is no guarantee when the second season will be released on Netflix, but it is needless to say that it is one of the most widely anticipated seasons alongside Winona Ryder starred Stranger Things.
