Alden Ehrenreich May Return as Han Solo if his Conditions are Met

It feels unreal to realize that Alden Ehrenreich made his debut as young Han Solo hardly two years back with the release of “Solo: A Star Wars Story.” The Skywalker saga conclusion was released right after that. The audience was left dangling somewhere in the middle, entirely engulfed with uncertainty of when and with what story will the next era of Star Wars release. The Mandalorian has been a very successful show on Disney Plus since its release in November 2019, and the certainty of a second season ensures the audience is engaged. But when talking about the next movie in the Star Wars world, we are still in the dark. And so is Ehrenreich. Since his debut, he has been more or less missing in action with no clue as to what his plans are.

The filming of the movie was controversial because the production removed directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller right before the release, and the reception of the film was positive in reviews but averaged in sales. The spinoff will always be known as the first Star Wars movie to tank at the box office with a mediocre collection of 392.9 million US Dollars all over the globe compared to the production budget of 250 million US Dollars. This failure ensured that the possibility of Han returning to the screen would be unbelievably thin. But as history has seen, a lot of movies that do not do well at the time of their release later tend to garner a sudden fan following. The same was the case with Solo. Twitter saw a viral hashtag #MakeSolo2Happen trend across countries.

This was what told the makers that the fans are willing to witness a second part of the movie, and this one may not bomb like its predecessor. For that to be possible, Alden will have to make a reappearance on the screen. Talking about this possibility being brought to reality, Alden said he would be happy to partake in the project if his demands are met. This does not seem like a very irrational expectation, and the viewers are glad that Ehrenreich is willing to negotiate his terms to return on set. On the contrary, Poe Dameron has outrightly refused to be in the second movie, if it does happen. The Star Wars team compensates well, both in terms of money and popularity. But every actor, director, writer, or other crew members who have ever worked on a Star Wars set thrives on making that movie an essential part of the entire franchise. For the second installment of the film to be successful, it needs to give better details about the life of Han Solo, because the fans see the first movie as the inception of his life story.
