Do not shut down your Mac

Keep your Mac powered while using Sleep Mode

To avoid such a situation, you can leave your Mac connected to power whenever you can, while you put your Mac on Sleep Mode.

Remove unnecessary applications from your Mac

For example- If you’re using Safari on your Mac, and you close the window while a lot of tabs were opened, the tabs will be there when you log in. The only difference is that you’ll have to manually launch Safari in case of a disabled ‘Reopen windows’ feature.

• Go to the ‘System Preferences’ window.

• Tap the padlock and enter the password to open the window and make changes.

Reinstall macOS

Reinstalling your macOS to the latest available version can be a great solution to your slow system. It is advised to create a backup for your data in case you delete something by mistake. Also, note that all the applications and software will have to be redownloaded once you reinstall your Mac.

Switch to SSD from a hard drive

If your Mac relies on the hard drive, it’s time to switch to SSD. To find out the type of drive used by your Mac, tap on the Apple icon and click on ‘About this Mac’ option. Go to the ‘Storage’ tab and locate the ‘Flash Storage’ option. In case, flash storage doesn’t appear, your Mac might be using an older drive.

Enabling the automatic login feature can help increase the speed of your Mac when you log in. The steps to enable the same are:

• Go to the ‘System Preferences’ window.
• Click on the ‘Users and Groups’ tab.
• Click on the ‘Login Options.’

The option is unavailable when you use FileVault to encrypt your drive. Thus, the steps to disable the FileVault are:

–          Click on the ‘Security and Privacy’ tab.

–          Tap on the ‘FileVault’ option.

–          Click on the ‘Lock’ icon on the bottom of the screen and enter admin details.

–          Next, tap on the ‘Turn off FileVault’ option.

Note: A drawback of using an automatic login feature is that it doesn’t require any password and thus, anyone can access your data.
