How to Mount and Use the Ecobee Smart Camera

The Ecobee SmartCamera offers you 1080p resolution and a 180-degree field view with the zooming features. Not only this, but it has other in-built Alexa features that enable you to check the weather, activate lights, etc.

Though the setup is simple and easy, you might face certain issues while setting up the same. If you have already followed the instructions and have set up a smart camera, and it’s still not activated, make sure to perform a reset before giving it another shot. Hold together the ‘Mute’ and the ‘Microphone’ button together for a few seconds, and the reset will begin alerting you with voice control.

The associate will experience each reset choice one-by-one. It’ll ask you whether you want to reset the SmartCamera to factory settings, and to do the same, click on the ‘Microphone’ button. You’ll be notified if your instructions are being followed. Also, note that it might take a couple of attempts.

How to set up the ecobee SmartCamera?

The steps to set up the ecobee SmartCamera are:

  1. Go to the ecobee application.
  2. Click on the ‘+’ icon highlighted in Green on the top right corner of the window.
  3. The next window will appear with the options for the product that you’re adding. Click on the ‘Camera’ option.
  4. A confirmation dialog box will appear, and the lights on the camera will flash once the setup process is done. Click on the ‘Good to go’ option at the bottom of the window.
  5. Tap on the device you want to set up from the list of devices that appear on the screen.
  6. Once you select your device name, you’ll be asked if you want to set it up through HomeKit or an alternate method. For the device to set up via HomeKit, scan the code that appears on the back of the camera, or choose the other method, whatever is convenient.
  7. Select the Internet connection you want to use to set up the SmartCamera and connect the same.
  8. Once the setup is done, assign a name to your camera.
  9. Your SmartCamera will be activated as soon as you enter the name for it. You can also choose to activate additional settings, and some of them are mentioned below:
  10. Window Mode minimizes the reflections on your camera if your camera is set up near glass.
  11. You can deactivate or reactivate the recording feature with the help of the Autopilot Mode.
  12. Enabling Wi-Fi settings helps improve automation, such as Autopilot Mode.
  13. To get informed about any unknown motions, you can switch on the notifications for the same, or else you won’t be notified.

How to mount the Ecobee SmartCamera?

The mounting of Ecobee SmartCamera doesn’t require any special skills and is a very simple procedure. The base can be attached on the back of the camera body, and is easily recognizable.

Pick any one of the two attachments points and press the base against the camera body. It’ll fit just right in its place. Select the angle you want to mount your camera, and attach the keyhole mount present on the bottom of the camera to the wall.

You can check the adjustments and settings from the ecobee app itself. You can also zoom in to the views using the application.
