The Witcher is an American drama series that was released on Netflix in December 2019. Based on the book series written by Andrzej Sapkowski, it is a fantasy that revolves around Geralt of Rivia and Princess Ciri produced by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. The lead actors of the show Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, and Anya Chalotra received good feedback for their performance in the show.
The show follows the story of a monster hunter who is struggling in a world where humans are more mischievous than beasts. Fate makes him meet a mighty sorceress and a princess with an extraordinary blessing. The three must figure out how to explore the unpredictable continent all by themselves.
The first season presented a non-linear timeline while season two will present the story of Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer simultaneously, as confirmed by Hissrich. She also mentioned that the second season will pick up from the same point where season one left off, and the stories will be told in a much more linear form.
The show received a very loving response from its audience when its first season was released with a total of eight episodes. Not only this, but the show makers also renewed its second season that is expected to be released in 2021. The filming of season two was supposed to start prior to the pandemic which was delayed due to the same reason. However, the updates from the team are that the shooting will resume anytime soon.
Netflix also made an official announcement regarding the same through its Twitter account. The fans of the show are really excited about their favorite show coming back. On the other hand, the team of the show can’t wait to get back to the sets and start working to bring out their best.
Season one did not present much of the back story of Cavill played by Henry Cavill, but season two is expected to focus more on it as the audience has a lot of questions regarding the same. Another exciting update is that an actor from ‘Game of Thrones’ is going to appear in the upcoming season of ‘The Witcher’ that has led to a lot more curiosity about the show.
As announced by Netflix, an animated version of The Witcher movie will be released and will be called ‘The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.’ Though there is no official date given by Netflix, the animated movie is likely to be released before the arrival of season two.
