Windows 10 Desktop App Launched by Amazon Prime Video

Prime Video is an online video service introduced by Amazon that offers TV shows, movies, etc. Not only regional shows or content, but it also comes with a lot of genres and languages for the viewers to get through as much content as they want. Also, the Prime account has to be subscribed before getting to use. It offers you a 30 free trial, after which you can no longer access the content without payment.

Earlier, Amazon Prime could only be accessed via Web browser if you’re using Windows 10 on your Laptop or PC. Now, the Amazon Prime video application is live and can be downloaded using the Microsoft Store on Windows 10. It works similarly to the Web version, for instance, you can download shows to view offline, search for shows you want to watch, add them to the playlist, etc.  It has the same structure as the web version, all the shows recommended by Prime listed on the landing page along with a menu on the left side of the screen.

Amazon is trying its best to compete with the substitute online streaming platforms such as Netflix. It has also approved shows like ‘Homecoming’ on its platform. Not only this, but Amazon has also introduced the ‘Watch Party’ feature same as ‘House Party’ by Netflix. The Watch Party feature allows up to 100 participants to stream a show or a movie together. The feature has also introduced a chat section where you can conversate with your fellow mates live along with a variety of emojis.

The Amazon application is free to download on Windows 10, and all you need to have is the subscription account of Amazon to access the content. You can subscribe on a monthly basis, or get an annual subscription, whatever is convenient. The subscription also comes with free Amazon Music, and a significant number of deals and free deliveries from Amazon shopping website.

The application version of Amazon has a limitation that it won’t allow streaming higher than 780p on Windows 10. The flaw is similar to the application version of the iPad. Also, the offline mode has three options for you to download the video: Good, Better, and Best. The higher the quality you opt for, the more storage will be used.

Amazon claims that the 1080p content quality depends upon the show you’re downloading. This means not all the shows will allow you quality more than 780p.
