Apple Has Removed the Fortnite Game from the App Store

Apple officially removed the Fortnite from the iOS App Store after “Epic Games” added their own payment arrangement in-game. Everyone knows that Apple has some strict rules regarding the privacy of their consumers. The policy of Apple is that every payment must run through the iOS store. From this payment system, Apple started to get 30% of the profit from the entire apps of the App Store. Now Epic gave its payment system and tried to bypass the 30% cut of Apple. They also advertised that they are providing V-bucks at a lower price, which was $7.99 for 1,000 V-bucks. Through Apple, the price for 1,000 V-bucks was $9.99.

Fortnite’s removal from the App Store came into the spotlight when Apple started facing criticism for its way to run the iOS store. Apple recently revealed that they would never allow applications like Google Stadia and xCloud that work on cloud gaming. Millions of players play through the online cloud, but Apple has decided to not to work with this type of systems.

In the past, Epic Games stated some issues regarding the App Store policies. The CEO of Epic Games “Tim Sweeny” said that 30% cut from the games is not justified and this type of policy should be replaced. Whereas, the Epic Games Store takes only 12% cut from the developers.

Apple stated that they don’t give any special treatment to developers, but on the other hand, they gave special treatment to “Amazon” in the past. Apple renounced the 30% cut from Amazon while selling movies and TV through Amazon Prime. So, as a result, there was an antitrust suit filed against Apple in 2016. The document of the deal revealed that Apple lowered the cut prices for Amazon on Prime Video subscription. They decreased the cut-price from 30% to 15% to let Amazon put their app on the App Store.

The following story is still going on, and a new matter just popped up. Right now, Fortnite is the biggest game in the world and removing it from the iOS App Store does not seem right for both companies. After the removal of Fortnite from the App Store, Epic Games has responded. Those players who have already installed Fortnite in the iOS device, nothing is going to change for them. Unfortunately, for those who haven’t installed the Fortnite game, they will not get the game in the iOS App Store.

Conclusion – Apple and Fortnite, both companies, indeed develop and evolve their system for their users. However, the policies of Apple are stringent in terms of payments and data. They do not allow any company to break the policies. However, Fortnite is not ready to pay an extra cut because that affects the in-game currency as well.
