‘Among Us’ on Steam is Surpassing PUBG

Among Us, developed by InnerSloth, is a multiplayer party game. It is an online and local game of teamwork and betrayal for four to ten players. The gameplay involves preparing a spaceship for departure while being safe from random players among the crew who are actually the Imposters looking to kill everyone. Among Us is one of the most popular steam games right now. Although the game was released back in 2018, however, it has experienced a massive surge in the player base from the past few weeks. Among Us secured a daily concurrent peak of 388,000 players on PC in the last month smashing the veteran Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) franchise. The incredible rise in the current players on Steam experienced by Among Us has put it to third on Steam rankings.

As always, it has been recommended to play Among the US with friends at a LAN party or online using voice chat. The main objective of the game is to identify the Imposter and kill off the crew. A few tips are listed below:

‘Among Us’ on Steam is Surpassing PUBG

  • Prepare the ship or eject all Impostors to win.
  • React as quickly as possible to undo the Impostor sabotages.
  • Admin map and Security cameras are useful to keep tabs on other Crewmates.
  • The moment you discover any dead body or kill one yourself, report it immediately to recognize the suspected Impostor.
  • Call emergency meetings to discuss suspicious behavior.
  • Frame bystanders and kill crewmates.
  • It is always a good idea to pretend that you are running tasks to blend in with the crewmates.
  • Use the vents and quickly move about the ship.
  • Use sabotages to divide the crew.
  • Closing doors to trap victims and killing them in private will work wonders.

After the months-long coronavirus pandemic that has forced the gamers to stay indoors, Among Us has become a must-play for steamers and a staple in COVID-era. Plus, it is interesting how players shrug off accusations while standing next to the very dead body, making it perfect for gaming nights during the lockdown.

One must note that the current 400,000 players playing Among Us are on Steam alone. This value does not include the untold players who have been playing Among Us on iOS, Android, free platforms, and PC counterparts.

With more than 265,000 viewers on the platform, Among Us has been placed ahead of Modern Warfare, Fortnite, and Valiant. Not to mention, the game saw 18.4 million mobile downloads in the last month that is eight times higher than the number of downloads in the month before. That said, Among Us witnessed another 41.9 million downloads on mobiles until mid-September, proving its stratospheric success.

Innersloth announced last week that a sequel to Among Us is in works. Although, the developer isn’t really sure about when it will be materialized, as it is extremely hard to add more things without breaking things that already exist in Among Us. Among Us is a genuinely fun and refreshing game giving something to bond over with friends and laugh about, especially, when everyone is stuck at their homes. Let’s just wait and watch how much more Among Us will grow in popularity.
